Favre taking part in practice

Brett Favre returned to practice as he tries to push to play Sunday

October 29, 2010 at 5:35PM

Brett Favre is on the field and taking part in Friday's light practice at Winter Park.

Favre did some stretching and light throwing during the first 10 minutes that the media was allowed to watch. The Vikings want to evaluate Favre and see where he's at physically today as they decide whether he's able to play Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Favre has made it clear he wants to play despite suffering a stress fracture in his left ankle and a fractured left heel. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, and he was in a walking boot until Thursday.

Vikings coach Brad Childress faces a difficult decision. A source told Judd on Thursday night that Childress is leaning toward playing Tarvaris Jackson, which would end Favre's NFL record for consecutive starts at 291.

Childress is scheduled to address the media after prarctice Friday so we'll see if he gives an update. Childress said Thursday that he's taking it day by day so he's probably not going to going to announce his decision before Sunday.
