It's hard to believe the excitement surrounding Brett Favre's return to Lambeau Field this year will be able to match the buzz of 2009.
Favre, who spent 16 seasons in Green Bay before a bitter divorce led to his trade to the Jets, showed the Packers he had plenty left on Nov. 1 of last season. He threw four touchdowns with no interceptions in the Vikings' 38-26 victory. The build up to the game was huge and Fox got its largest audience for a Sunday NFL telecast in 14 years.
Favre will try to provide an encore performance Sunday night as the Vikings (2-3) attempt to move a half-game ahead of the Packers (3-3) in the NFC North.
Favre figures to get plenty of questions about the Packers at his weekly news conference on Wednesday at Winter Park. He also will be asked about his meeting with NFL Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich on Tuesday. The league wanted to talk to Favre about the allegations he sent inappropriate photos and messages to former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger in 2008 when he played for the team.
Vikings coach Brad Childress also will address the media later this morning. The Vikings have won three in a row against the Packers and will be looking to beat Green Bay in four consecutive games for the first time since the 1992 and '93 seasons.
