Favorite wins Canterbury's richest quarter horse race

Pyc Jess Bite Mydust and jockey Brayan Velazquez won the richest quarter horse race ever run at Canterbury Park, the $165,600 Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity, taking the 350-yard race by a head over Cr Game Changer on Sunday in Shakopee. Both quarter horses are trained by Jason Olmstead.

The final time for the race was 17.792 seconds. Pyc Jess Bite Mydust, the wagering favorite, paid $4.40 to win.

• Jockey Orlando Mojica, 34, won his 2,000th career race when he rode Sam Scored a Goal to victory in the 10th race Sunday.

Saints top Fargo-Moorhead again

Aaron Gretz had two RBI and the St. Paul Saints scored five runs over the second and third innings before holding on for a 7-3 victory at Fargo-Moorhead. Alec Crawford pitched five innings for the Saints, who won three out of four in the series to improve to an American Association-best 35-16, dropping the RedHawks nine games behind them in the North Division.
