Investigators have determined that a fatal fire in Henderson, Minn., in August was intentionally started by the 17-year-old victim.

A report released Friday by the state fire marshal's office said arson caused an Aug. 29 blaze that killed Amee Lee Thiel.

The girl had recently moved with her father to Henderson, which is about 50 miles southwest of Minneapolis.

According to the report, firefighters were called to Thiel's Henderson home at about 4:50 a.m. Flames were coming out of the house and firefighters had to force their way in because the doors were locked.

Thiel was found in the basement and transported to Le Sueur Hospital, where she was pronounced dead from smoke inhalation.

Investigators late discovered a burner on the stove was on. Fire damaged the main level and basement of the home.
