The State Patrol has shutdown westbound 494 at 35W due to a fatal crash at France Avenue in Bloomington.

The freeway is expected to be closed through the morning rush hour as a reconstruction team investigates, the patrol said.

At least six to eight vehicles, including a tanker truck, were involved in the wreck, which happened at 5:01 a.m., said Eric Roeske, a spokesman for the patrol.

Traffic is being diverted to 35W and other streets. That is leading to jamups on 35W north and Crosstown Hwy. 62. Speeds are at 20 miles per hour on eastbound 494 from Hwy. 100 to Lyndale Avenue.

Ramps to westbound 494 at Penn and France Avenues also are closed.

Northbound Cedar Avenue from 694 to the Crosstown, and westbound Crosstown from 28th Avenue to 35W is slow going as motorists use those highways to get around the crash scene.
