At least one person died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Dakota County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The patrol was still investigating Friday night and details were sparse. The crash happened just before 2:45 p.m. on southbound Hwy. 52 near its intersection with Hwy. 50.

In a crash earlier Friday in Isanti County, Blake Hinton, 57, of Ham Lake, was killed when the 1998 Corvette he was driving north on Hwy. 65 near 361st Avenue NE. in Cambridge drifted into the southbound lane and hit a semitrailer truck head-on just after 9:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, the name of a man killed Thursday night in a head-on crash in Olmsted County was released. Nicholas Hamblin, 26, of Byron, was driving north on Hwy. 63 near Milepost 50 about 7:30 p.m. when his 2008 Honda Civic crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2003 Ford F-150 pickup. Hamblin, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The pickup driver and his passenger suffered noncritical injuries. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

To the east in Wisconsin, a 16-year-old driver who was not wearing a seat belt died just after 3 p.m. Friday when the 2004 Oldmobile Bravada she was driving on Hwy. 35 in St. Croix County left the road and rolled several times. The victim, whose name has not been released, was ejected.
