Yeah yeah yeah

Christian Joy, infamous fashion designer for Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, has launched her debut collection. For spring, the designer focused on easy-to-wear jersey T-shirt dresses, leggings and jumpsuits in graphic black-and-white. Though she's still planning to design stagewear for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' next tour, the Brooklyn-based designer is moving on to more everyday designs. "I'm wanting to design clothes that I can wear, and challenging myself in a different way," Joy says. The spring collection was inspired by her youth growing up in Iowa with limited exposure to mainstream fashion. "I didn't pay too much attention to fashion growing up. My mom inspired me more than anything. She's a Christian but a hippie at the same time -- super D.I.Y." While you can purchase Joy's collection only at shops on the coasts, you can view it at www.christianjoy.us, modeled by none other than Karen O.

New Target designers

Everyone's favorite retailer of mass fashion has announced a slew of new designer collaborations for spring and summer, including collections from Rogan and Cynthia Rowley. Next up is the jewelry line Subversive by Justin Giunta -- a bold, eclectic mix of charm bracelets, drop earrings, color-block necklaces and strand upon strand of pearls. The collection is inspired by Giunta's background in painting and industrial design, and successfully straddles the line between fine art and commercial design. ($14.99-$59.99, select Target stores and www.target.com.)
