Fashion with a cause

Style takes an altruistic bent this week. Thursday, local designers and boutiques take over St. Paul's Landmark Center for Fashion Fighting Stigma, a fundraiser for People Incorporated Homeless Services. The evening includes a runway show with fashions by Nick Ruffalo, Autumn Kirchman, Hilary Hubanks, Primp, Drama and Design Collective, plus music, a cash bar and appetizers.

Designer discounter Opitz Outlet is making it stylish to give back with a pop-up sale benefiting the victims of last spring's tornado in north Minneapolis. For two weekends, the St. Louis Park store will bring some of its best selections from brands like Theory, Polo, BCBG and Marc by Marc Jacobs -- all marked down at least 70 percent -- to a temporary outpost in north Minneapolis. Bonus: All designer handbags will be only $10.
