Bill Blass show
Although the weather says otherwise, spring is upon us. If it's modern, sophisticated classics you seek, check out the Bill Blass New York Spring 2008 Collection Trunk Show. This is the first collection presented by new Bill Blass creative director Peter Som, whose fall 2008 line was featured at Fashion Week in New York. The spring collection strikes a balance between the classic, sophisticated aesthetic of Blass and Som's modern-feminine look. (Sat.-Feb. 22; 651-216-6798 or www.bellasofie.com for appointment and location.)
Double show
Two of Minnesota's biggest names in high-end fashion, Joynoëlle and Monique Lhuillier, are teaming up for a double runway show and trunk show in March, featuring the designers' spring collections. There will be very limited seating, so reserve tickets now. (Noon & 3 p.m. March 9, The Hotel Ivy, 1115 2nd Av. S., Mpls., $100, 612-746-4600.)
Uptown sees red
The Uptown Association is literally painting Uptown red. In an effort to bring more traffic into Uptown and create awareness of the Go Red for Women campaign by the American Heart Association, students from the University of Minnesota retail management department are constructing window displays for Uptown retailers such as Local Motion, Heartbreaker and the Smitten Kitten. The public can vote for their favorite window display through Feb. 29. See www.uptownminneapolis.com for a list of stores and ballot.
