We don't do as much fashion news as we should. So let's correct that right now.

Hard times often bring a sober, adult tone to fashions, but one designerhas decided that we really want to be reminded of a group of aristocrats who mismanaged their rule, ended up overthrown and dead, and kicked off the invention of the totalitarian state. Par-tay!

Mr. Azria's use of the present tense suggests he has no idea who Marie Antoinette was. The reporter may have asked him if he was inspired by Marie Antoinette, and he just threw out some random compliments. He might have said the same thing if the reporter had asked if he was influenced by Gertrude Stein.
