MNartists to market

Walker Art Center has long made a point of featuring local artists and designers in its Walker Shop. Now, they're upping that commitment with the mnartists.marketplace, opening Thursday. Co-curated by mnartists.org, the mini-store will be devoted to Minnesota-made art and art-inspired objects, plus exclusive limited-edition items. The first edition: a series of pint glasses featuring the work of six Minnesota artists.

    Now online: Ship & Shape

A handful of local designers are forgoing bricks-and-mortar retail in favor of the Internet with the newly launched Ship & Shape. Shop owners Erin Smith of Sisbro Design, Maddy Nye of MN&Co, and Annika Kaplan will curate a quarterly collection of their own wares plus 15 of their favorite designers with a focus on limited-edition items. Look for screen-printed shirts and hand-crocheted collars by Rachel Blomgren, delicate jewelry by Kaplan, stationery, artwork, home goods, gifts and more. Sample the goods in person with the "Ornamento" pop-up shop from noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
