OutSpoken: Beauties, Bikes & Beats

Nearly every summertime week sees a bicycle-centric art show, themed bike ride, David Byrne-hosted panel on urban biking or bicycle film festival. This event from "upcycling" clothing line CounterCouture and local band MelloRoar celebrates our love of biking with a bike-themed fashion show, live sets from MelloRoar and 36sunrise, an artist raffle and a free bike valet.

Kjurek's 5th anniversary

When Kimberly Jurek founded her clothing line five years ago, the local fashion scene was practically nonexistent. Now, Kjurek Couture has expanded to 14 shops nationwide (plus Japan and Canada). The designer is celebrating with a show of her fall collection, which doubles as a launch for a joint handbag collection by Jurek and Amanda Christine. With live traditional Puerto Rican music, DJ Ken Hannigan and art by John Alspach.
