Ivy closing

Ivy, a staple of the local fashion industry, is closing its doors. Owner Ini Iyamba made the announcement via Facebook, simply stating, "It is with much regret that I bring this news. After five years it's the perfect time to say goodbye." Despite the sad news, there's a silver lining -- everything in the store (including offerings from Diesel, Isabella Fiore and Diane von Furstenberg) is 50 percent off until the store ultimately closes its doors. An official closing date has not yet been announced.

New store openings at MOA

If there's any indication of economic recovery, it's growth in retail. Thankfully, the Mall of America is opening a few new stores this spring and summer. Most exciting is the state's first Betsey Johnson lifestyle store, offering women's ready-to-wear, accessories, handbags and just about everything else from the legendary New York designer. Also open is the first shop by popular British fragrance brand Jo Malone, housed within Nordstrom. Other notable openings include Francesca's Boutique, a globally sourced women's clothing and gift shop; Goldy's Hockey Minnesota, a one-stop shop for licensed hockey paraphernalia from Minnesota teams past and present, and Boss: Hugo Boss menswear.
