BGF mag launches

Arts and style writer Joan Erakit has taken her knack for tastemaking to the next level with her new print publication. Named for her Brown Girl Files blog, BGF Magazine will be a limited-edition quarterly featuring editorials and essays highlighting local, national and international art and fashion. BGF's May 31 launch party will include a preview of the debut Americana-themed issue, a cocktail reception, a pop-up boutique from Behind the Scenes, and music by Andrew Smith and DJ Bach.

New stores at MOA

We're still waiting to hear about which stores will take Bloomingdale's coveted space, but in the meantime the Mall of America has announced a few new stores. Legendary New York retailer Henri Bendel is opening an accessories store for its namesake line of colorful, eclectic handbags, jewelry and scarves. A new pop-up shop from heritage men's brand Carhartt will be open August through February (a mall rep says it's likely to stay longer), and high-end luggage retailer Lincoln Road Travelwear will open in the coming months. That's on top of Dr. Martens and Cotton On stores, which opened last week.
