Farmington junior Reid Taubenheim is hardly your ordinary high school football kicker. He also doubles as the Tigers' starting strong safety.
"He works hard on his skills as an athlete," Farmington coach Mark Froehling said.
Taubenheim tied for the team lead with 10 tackles to go along with his record-setting performance as a kicker in the Tigers' season opening 19-7 victory over Rochester Mayo.
He kicked a school-record four field goals, connecting from 21, 33, 44 and a school-record 48 yards. The previous mark was 42 yards.
"He also spends time working on leg strength and accuracy as a kicker," Froehling said.
Taubenheim, who also serves as the team's punter, also had three touchbacks on his kickoffs.
"He had one of the top special teams performances that I've seen in high school football," Froehling said.
