Here's what's happening this weekend, events-wise, at Twin Cities farmers markets (for a list -- and a map -- of more than 50 metro-area farmers markets, go here).

Saturday: Tammy Wong, chef/owner of Rainbow Chinese Restaurant & Bar, will demonstrate an all-vegetable dish she calls "Bottle Gourd," prepared using ingredients purchased at the Minneapolis Farmers Market. Free samples? Yes. 10:30 a.m.

Saturday: Chef Nick Schneider, formerly of Cafe Brenda, will demonstrate several whole grains salads and non-traditional vegetable slaws at the Mill City Farmers Market. Arrive early for the free samples. 10 a.m. (On your way in or out, be sure to make your acquaintance with the farm animals from Gale Woods Farm).

Sunday: The Toyota Farm to Table Tour is dropping into the Minneapolis Farmers Market Annex, with nine local chefs pairing with market vendors to create seasonal dishes. Complimentary samples, of course, and the Toyota marketing side of it includes test-drives of the car maker's hybrid vehicles, as well as giveaways and a chance to win a trip to California's Santa Barbara wine country. The participating chefs are Kevin Kathman of Barbette, Jason Blair of Red Stag Supperclub, Jeremy Bonczyk of Bryant-Lake Bowl, Jack Riebel of Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant, Kate Moore of Lucia's Restaurant, Khanh Tran and Håkan Lundberg of Cosmos, Ben Pichler of Grand Café and Geoffrey King of Subo. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
