The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation endorsed U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar Friday.

"Senator Klobuchar is a strong and effective advocate for Minnesota farmers," Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation PAC Chairman Randy Kramer said in a statement released by the Klobuchar campaign. "She understands the issues facing farmers and has shown a rare ability to work across the aisle to stand up and do what is right for our state. She showed leadership in passing the 2008 Farm Bill and fought to pass a bipartisan 2012 Farm Bill through the Senate and the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation PAC is pleased to endorse her."

The first-term Democratic senator is facing GOP challenger Kurt Bills, a state representative and high school economics teacher, in November.

Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, was endorsed by the Minnesota Farmers Union earlier this month.
