The London-based folk-pop band Fanfarlo put on an amazing show at the Triple Rock last night breaking out trumpets, clarinets, violins and saws (yes! Saws!) to create their ecclectic sound. For their encore they passed out plastic tubes to the crowd that when swung overhead like a lasso created an eerie howl which added to the depth of their sound. While the set was short, it was surely sweet. I heard several in the crowd saying they couldn't wait for the band's next return to the Twin Cities. The other band, Freelance Whales, also had a strong set. More photos here.
