Folkways of the Holidays

This Three Rivers Park District event celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Guests are invited to discover the holiday traditions of 19th-century Minnesotans. Each weekend features entertainment including Sacred Harp singers, St. Paul Irish Dancers and others. Tour homes with culturally distinct decorations and take a trolley ride pulled by Percheron horses. (11 a.m.-4 p.m. today, next Sun.; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. $3-$5. The Landing, 2187 E. Old-Fashioned Holiday

Santa has modernized his entrance and will arrive in a shiny red Hopkins fire truck. Kids of all ages can visit with St. Nick and give him their wish list. Also horse-drawn wagon rides, hot cider and gingerbread house display. (5-8 p.m. Thu. Free. Downtown Hopkins. www.thinkhopkins.com)
