The family of Isaac Kolstad released a picture of the injured former Minnesota State, Mankato football player holding his infant daughter.

Isaac's wife, Molly, wrote on his CaringBridge site that Isaac is taking every opportunity to bond with his infant daughter, Malia. "It continues to amaze us the connection he has made with her through this ordeal. He truly, truly knows he is a daddy and we see this all the time with his interactions with the girls." The Kolstads have an older daughter, Haidyn.

Isaac's wife goes on to write that her husband is healthy and getting his strength back. She writes, "He continues to make great accomplshments at rehab for his brain injuries but still has an incredibly long road ahead."

The 24-year old Kolstad was attacked near a downtown Mankato bar May 11. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and is currently in an inpatient rehabilitation program in the Twin Cities. Former University of Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson and St. Peter resident Trevor Shelley have been charged with assault.
