A St. Anthony father and two children were killed Friday as they drove to a high school graduation party near Lindstrom. They were struck head-on by another vehicle that crossed the centerline, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.

The victims were identified as Bart Hazlett, 52, the driver, and Olivia Hazlett, 11, and Roan Hazlett, 9. Another child, 15-year-old Zoe Hazlett, survived the crash. She was in stable condition Saturday at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul.

The driver of the van that crossed the centerline on Olinda Avenue was Eileen O'Hara, 68, of Marine on St. Croix. She was listed in serious condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul Saturday.

A bouquet of pink roses and a music trophy sat on the Hazletts' front lawn Saturday, placed there by neighbor Adrienne Johnson, Olivia's piano teacher.

Olivia was to play in her first recital Saturday and receive the trophy topped by gold musical notes, Johnson said.

She said the couple home-schooled their four children, who were often seen playing make-believe games in their front yard or riding scooters or skateboards.

Hazlett's wife, Sang Tran, couldn't be reached Saturday. She was driving another car, with their fourth child inside, to the party, Johnson said. No one was at the Hazletts' home Saturday afternoon. Friends had left bags of food, juice and paper plates by the door.

Neighbors said the Hazletts had been in the catering and restaurant business but Bart Hazlett was partly disabled by a hip injury.

"It was difficult for him to get around," said neighbor Randy Stille, a St. Anthony City Council member. He said the family moved in next door to him about five years ago.

Olivia and a sibling or two had a lemonade stand on their corner last week. She brought free lemonade to a few neighbors. Olivia had been excited about earning some money at the lemonade stand, Johnson said. "She brought me a cup and a chocolate music note."

She said the girl was always prompt for her weekly piano lessons.

"This was to be the first time they heard her play" at a recital, Johnson said. "They just didn't make it."

Another Friday night crash left one person dead after a Jaguar hit a guardrail while trying to exit Interstate 35W onto Crosstown Hwy. 62 at about 10:25 p.m. The driver, Glenn J. Stratton, 69, of Mendota Heights, was killed and his wife, Diane Ousterling-Stratton, 68, suffered minor injuries.
