FITNESS FUN

The Move and Groove Family Fest hopes to get moms, dads and kids off the couch for some calorie-burning fun. The event includes interactive activities themed around fitness and creativity. Chef and restaurateur Brenda Langton will demonstrate how healthy eating can be fun. Wiggle your hips and jump a little rope in the move and groove playground. (10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. next Sun. Free. Basilica of St. Mary, 16th St. and Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. www.move andgroovefamilyfest.com.)

ARCHAEOLOGY WEEKEND

Children are invited to come dig in the dirt and find out how early settlers lived. Grab some tools and simulate a dig with staff to find artifacts that show what early settlers wore, ate and how they spent their free time. (1-4 p.m. Sat.-next Sun. $3. Sibley Historic Site, 1357 Sibley Memorial Hwy., Mendota. 651-452-1596. www.mnhs.org.)
