Family + kids spotlight: Julgladje Family Celebration at American Swedish Institute

December 25, 2010 at 7:06PM

HOW SWEDE IT IS!

You see the word "Julglädje," and what's the first thing that comes to mind? Yes! You're absolutely right -- it means "Christmas joy"! The American Swedish Institute is providing some with its Julglädje Family Celebration, hosted by Ross Sutter, pictured. Sutter will be playing a collection of Swedish and American holiday tunes that will make everyone feel like they're standing around the family piano sharing a song. He will be joined by Marya Hart on piano and Cheryl Paschke on nyckelharpa and fiddle. Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux will share stories and there will be a sing-along and dances around the Christmas tree. You can create a traditional Christmas craft, too. (1:30 & 3:30 p.m. today; 12:30 & 2:30 p.m. Mon. Free with museum admission, $4-$6. 2600 Park Av. S., Mpls. 612-871-4907. www.americanswedishinst.org.)

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
