MILWAUKEE — Gov. Mary Fallin and her staff are at the summer meeting of the National Governors Association in Milwaukee, where Fallin is expected to assume the chairmanship of the group.
Fallin arrived in Milwaukee on Thursday and is expected to announce her chair's initiative on Sunday when she formally takes over the association's top post from Delaware Gov. Jack Markell.
Fallin spokesman Alex Weintz says the six members of the governor's staff who traveled with her to Wisconsin, along with her security detail, is a larger contingent than normal because of the additional work associated with her chairmanship.
Weintz says the governor and her staff will be attending seminars throughout the week to learn about best practices on topics like health care, homeland security, economic development and transportation.
