The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice has indefinitely suspended the medical license of Dr. Milton Seifert of Excelsior for failure to comply with an order related to a previous disciplinary action.

Seifert, 77, was cited in 2007 for improperly prescribing drugs to patients with a history of chemical dependency, according to a settlement agreement released by the board. It was the second disciplinary action taken against him.

As part of the settlement, Seifert agreed to complete courses in pharmacology, chemical dependency awareness, pain management and medical records, and undergo extra supervision for two years.

However, according to an order released by the board Tuesday, despite an extension of time, Seifert failed to complete the requirements of the 2007 order. He can petition the board to reinstate his license once he completes the requirements, the board said.
