A former Fox employee shot and killed himself outside of Fox News' New York City headquarters Monday, according to multiple media reports.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Phillip Perea, 41, of Irving, Texas, shot himself once in the chest outside of the News Corp building at 1211 Avenue of the Americas in midtown Manhattan shortly before 9 a.m. ET. Perea had worked at the Fox affiliate station KTBC in Austin, Texas.
Perea was reportedly handing out fliers about how Fox had ruined his career moments before he committed suicide.
He also uploaded a final chapter in his video series (below) to YouTube, chronicling his claims of bullying at Fox, titled: "The American Workplace Bully: How FOX News Ended My Career." A suicide note and gun were recovered at the scene, according to officials.
Perea was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Fox TV did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment regarding the shooting.
