Lilydale's former city administrator and clerk has pleaded guilty to swindling more than $3,300 from city coffers and will serve 10 days in jail.

After admitting to the crime this week, Joan M. Olin, 49, of Mendota Heights, was sentenced in Dakota County District Court. She'll also be on probation for five years.

Olin repaid the money last year, but District Judge Gabriel Biancola on Monday ordered her to also pay $12,000 in restitution to cover auditing fees the city had to pay.

She had been in charge of payroll and paying expenses. According to a 2009 criminal complaint, sheriff's investigators found Olin stole money by giving herself a salary increase from $38,000 to $42,000 on Aug. 1, 2008, even though the raise had not been authorized to begin until Jan. 1, 2009; failing to have $1,380 in health insurance premiums withheld from her salary; and gaining a few hundred dollars from improprieties in her life insurance coverage and pension fund contributions.

Olin had also worked part time for the city of Mendota.
