"Obviously, it was a good win," Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve after he team beat Tulsa 82-54 on Sunday at Target Center. "We had moments when we played really well. And eventually we got back into what we wanted to do. Our ball pressure was really good and set the tone for the game."
The Lynx scored 22 points off 20 turnovers by the Shock. Monica Wright had four steals and Lindsay Whalen three for Minnesota.
"I was disappointed how we came out and started the third quarter," Reeve said. "We turned it over and the next possession we fouled and it just kind of continued from there with the group, with the exception of Whalen. I just did not think we played quite the way we had hoped coming out of the locker room."
So what did Reeve do? She took four starters out after 2:30, leaving only Whalen in. Candice Wiggins made a three-pointer, Wright a free throw to put the Lynx ahead 45-29. Those points started a 9-3 run.
POST DUO SHINES
For the second game in a row, Reeve played 6-5 rookie Amber Harris and 6-4 Jessica Adair together a lot. They played well on Friday in Chicago and again this night.
Harris had four points and three rebounds in almost 17 minutes, Adair nine points and three rebounds in 14:23,
"Their plus-minus when they are on the court together is pretty solid," Reeve said. "They have a nice chemistry, even in practice, and we have noticed those things. And Amber is learning being put in those situations. Jess is really good around the basket and Amber is solid there. Amber has a little face-up game. They are both big. We get rebounds when they are in there. I like what they are doing together."
