There's a new Equity Director in town.
He's 39-year-old Alex Tittle, who was named to the position Friday by the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority. The position will last as long as construction on the $975 million stadium continues, and maybe a little bit after. (The stadium is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016.)
The project has goals for hiring minorities, women and veterans, and it will be Tittle's job to make sure those marks are met. He'll help guide the Authority on various contracts related to construction, and act as a liason with minority and women-owned businesses in the community.
Most recently, Tittle served as director of the Office of Civil Rights for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. He's a U.S. Army vet, leaving the service as a company commander in 2007, and he's a graduate of the Citadel, the hallowed military institution in South Carolina.
"It's definitely a great opportunity," Tittle said of the position, which pays $98,000 a year. " I definitely appreciate the trust and confidence that the Authority, as well as the Vikings, have in me. I'm looking forward to make them proud of the opportunities we have in Minnesota and impact we're going to make."
Tittle, who sported a purple tie at the Authority meeting Friday, added: "I bleed purple and gold. That's my heart."
