Star Tribune reporter Alex Ebert sends this update from the field.

Even as Matt Entenza conceded, all of his supporters raised a loud cheer for the man they supported for more than a year.

"Entenza, Entenza," they shouted, after he had told them that he would endorse the outright winner of the race after numbers in his Ramsey County home turf didn't back him up.

"In a democracy a people speak," he said.

He acknowledged that not enough people had spoken at the ballot boxes for him and said that tomorrow he would stand behind either DFL winner.

"Both are strong candidates and one will be the next governor of Minnesota," he said.

And as quickly as he had come, he left. He had spent the night at home and at 9:32, minutes after the announcement he walked out of the crowded St. Paul headquarters back into the rain.

UPDATE: Entenza would not respond to a reporter's questions as he headed out of the event, saying that he's saving comment until tomorrow's press conference.
