CHARLESTON, S.C. — Emma Talley and Yueer Cindy Feng won semifinal matches Saturday in the U.S. Women's Amateur to advance to the 36-hole final.

Talley, the 19-year-old Princeton, Ky., player coming off her freshman season at Alabama, beat 18-year-old Alison Lee of Valencia, Calif., 1 up at the Country Club of Charleston.

Lee, who will be a freshman at UCLA, struggled with a persistent nosebleed that began on the third hole and required a brief medical stoppage before she teed off on No. 4.

"We're friends, so I was like, 'Oh that's just the worst timing," Talley said. "That's just hard and I felt so bad for her, but she just took it really well."

Lee won Nos. 14-16 to square the match. Talley took the par-3 17th with a par to regain the lead, and won the match with a conceded par on the par-4 18th.

"My putter's hot right now and that's what you have to have to get in the finals," Talley said. "No matter what happens tomorrow, I'm really excited and it's been a great experience so far."

The 17-year-old Feng, from Orlando, Fla., topped Taiwan's Doris Chen 3 and 2.

"It just felt like it was going to be one of those days where you have to grind it out and just stay patient," said Feng, who works with noted instructor Sean Foley. "I managed to do that.

"I really can't believe it. It's such a big tournament and I'm actually in the final."

Talley and Feng will receive exemptions into the 2014 U.S. Women's Open at Pinehurst, if still amateurs.
