Rep. Keith Ellison issued a call to arms to his Twitter followers last night, asking them to phone the White House and complain about the lack of diversity at president Obama's health summit today. Ellison, a staunch liberal, also complained that no progressive lawmakers were invited.

"HC Summit: Blue Dog rep, but NO Progressive, Hispanic, Black, Asian rep. invited. 3 women of 29 members invited.Call WH & complain loudly," wrote Ellison, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Ellison may need to check his facts, however. He seems to have forgotten that Hispanic California Rep. Xavier Becerra is expected to attend today's meeting.

UPDATE: Ellison spokesman Rick Jauert contends that the congressman's gripe was that those caucuses -- black, Hispanic, etc -- were not explicitly represented at the summit (Becerra was invited because he is the vice chair of the Democratic Caucus).

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
