A 63-year-old man was killed early Saturday when his pickup truck ran off Hwy. 65 north of Brunswick Township in Kanabec County.
Clifford Smith, of Elk River, was heading north in wet conditions around 3:30 a.m. when his car crossed into the south lane, according to the State Patrol. The vehicle landed in a ditch amid a grove of trees.
Alcohol was not detected, the patrol said, and Smith was wearing a seat belt.
