You remember Elizabeth Alexander, brilliant in her red coat, a little shy and just a wee bit trembly, reading her lovely poem, "Praise Song for the Day" at President Obama's inauguration. (The poem was published by Minneapolis' Graywolf Press, as were other collections by Alexander, including "American Sublime," which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.)

The Yale professor, essayist, poet and playwright, will be in the Twin Cities on Feb. 8 to speak as part of the eighth annual NOMMO African American Authors series, hosted by Alexs Pate.

The event will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in Cowles Auditorium in the Hubert H. Humphrey Center, 301 19th Av. S., Mpls. Tickets are $15 and can be ordered from http://z.umn.edu/libtix
