Electronic monitoring ordered for Somali manA federal judge has ordered continued electronic monitoring of a 23-year-old St. Anthony man charged in the ongoing investigation into the travels of Minnesota Somalis to fight with a terror group in Somalia.
U.S. Magistrate Susan Nelson on Tuesday denied a request by Omer Abdi Mohamed, who wanted to remove the anklet for several reasons, including because it was irritating and prevented him from wearing shorts.
He's one of 14 people charged in the ongoing investigation. Seven of the suspects are at large, and one is in the Netherlands fighting extradition. Mohamed didn't travel to Somalia, but a November indictment suggests that he supported others who did.
