Elderly Maplewood man drowns in Keller Lake

October 13, 2013 at 12:08AM

The body of an elderly Maplewood man was found in Keller Lake on Saturday afternoon, hours after his family had called police to request a search, Maplewood police said. The man's identity has not been released.

Maplewood Police Spokesman David Kvam said that the police received a call earlier Saturday asking for help in locating the man.

An officer in a patrol car noticed the man's car parked at the lake and began a search. She found his body floating in the water about 2:30 p.m. and called Ramsey County Water Patrol divers to assist in recovery efforts, Kvam said. The possibility of suicide is being investigated.

Authorities are in the process of confirming the man's identity and age, and will be notifying family members, police officials said.
