Eight 500-year rain events in 15 months

"The flooding in Louisiana in the eighth event since May of last year in which the amount of rainfall in an area in a specified window of time matches or exceeds the NOAA predictions for an amount of percipitation that will occur once every 500 years." -- The New York Times, Aug. 16. 2016

In other words, once every 500 years happened eight times in 15 months.
