Eastview junior Nick Oelke ran in his first Class 2A boys' cross-country state meet Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

The best movie I've seen in the last year? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Savior" by Rise Against; "Right Now" by SR-71; "Tonight" by Enrique Iglesias.

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Goofy; lighthearted; focused.

How did you get started in cross-country? I got started in cross-country because I was always finishing as one of the fastest people in all of the basketball drills, so my mom told me in eighth grade that I should go out for cross-country and see how that would go for me.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... nervous because I did not want to get left behind by the older kids.

How do you balance school and athletics? It's hard to balance school work when you get home late in the day from practice, but the best thing to do is to try and get as much done in school as you can.

What do you work on in the offseason? During the offseason I will be running outside four days a week and lifting weights.

What is your favorite meal before a meet? Cheez-Its and Gatorade.

I know I have an edge on another runner when ... they can't keep pace after the first mile.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? My most memorable moment as an athlete was breaking the school record in the 5K (15:52.0) while coming in third in the Class 2A, Section 3 meet.
