Littering. A man was issued a citation for littering on the 9000 block of University Avenue NE. While driving, an officer saw him discard a cigarette filter out of the window of his vehicle.

OCT. 30

Theft. A semi-automatic handgun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 2000 block of Desoto Street.

NOV. 1

Theft. Laundry was stolen from a dryer on the first floor on the 1700 block of Adolphus Street.

OCT. 13

Theft. $4,000 cash was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 1000 block of Overlook Road.

OAKDALE

OCT. 17

Suspicious person. The police received a call at 8:35 a.m. regarding several juveniles sleeping in the grass behind a business on the 5600 block of Hadley Avenue. An officer observed five juveniles sleeping on one blanket with a suitcase and skateboards nearby. The juveniles were identified, and the parents were contacted. The juveniles said they were trying to walk home and got too tired.

OCT. 23

Fire. A fire was reported at 11:50 a.m. on the 6400 block of 11th Street. When the fire department arrived, the garage of the residence was on fire. Two dogs inside a kennel in the garage died. Eight people were inside the home, but no injuries were reported. The cause is still under investigation.

ST. PAUL

OCT. 25

Fire. A garage fire was reported by neighbors on the 700 block of Geranium Avenue E. Damage was estimated at $20,000. The cause remains under investigation.

NOV. 4

Fire. A woman woke to find her bed on fire on the 900 block of Mendota Street. She had fallen asleep with a lighted cigarette. The woman got out safely. There were no smoke detectors in the residence.

Rescue. Firefighters rescued a person trapped in a stalled elevator on the 1400 block of Carling Drive.

NOV. 5

Methamphetamine possession. For a second consecutive day, narcotics officers staking out suspected drug dealing in an area near Kmart, 245 E. Maryland Av., reported an arrest. About 7:30 p.m., officers said they saw a drug transaction, then arrested the passenger in one of two vehicles. The man was suspected to be carrying meth. A day earlier, three men were witnessed allegedly completing a drug deal in the same area, they were arrested and police seized two vehicles and $549 in cash.

NOV. 7

Aggravated assault. Shots were reported outside of Tequila Tango, 992 Arcade St., after a bouncer tossed out a group of people who had been fighting inside. No one was hurt, but the bar's sign was shot out just before midnight, according to police. Officers arrived to find the bouncer and the bar's manager shoving one another because, the bouncer told police, he had advised the manager to shut down the bar before the shots were fired, and the manager refused. Because there appeared to be "no control of this establishment," the report said, "officers cleared out the bar due to the ensuing anarchy." Police were unaware of any previous trouble at the establishment.

NOV. 8

Attempted robbery. A New Brighton man told police he was confronted by three men who demanded his money while he was in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue about 5:15 p.m. The man ran and then heard gunshots. Police found four bullet casings in a nearby alley. No one was injured.
