A woman found in a Duluth alley on Sunday morning is being treated for frostbite at a St. Paul hospital.
Duluth police said they were called at 9:38 a.m. to assist the fire department and ambulance on a medical call after a passerby found 30-year-old Erin Coons conscious and cold. Authorities believe she was outside for a few hours. Temperatures that morning hovered around 13 below.
A CaringBridge page for Coons said she was found near St. Mary's Hospital and was later flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she is receiving treatment for frostbite.
The site first said Coons had "some pretty severe frostbite and some health issues going on but we do not want to go into detail."
In a post Wednesday, Coons' sister wrote that, "at this time there's no blood flow to the tips of all her left toes."
Police said Thursday they still hadn't determined why Coons was outside but said they do not suspect criminal activity.
