If you've been missing Bob Davis since he left KSTP, good news: he's doing podcasts, as well as filling in down on WLS in Chicagoland. This one is a rumination on John Dillinger and the world of the Public Enemies, recorded as he drove at night down the backroads of Wisconsin. Stay with it for the classic modern interaction with the Car Wash Zombie. (Contains one naughty word, so if that bothers you, don't say you weren't warned.)

He'd just finished reading "Public Enemies," the book on which the Depp flick's based, and I second his recommendation. It's a crackling yarn, as they said once, but it's not a novel - the book details the rise of the gangsters and the government's attempt to stop them. Best book I read last year.

The 30-minute trip is here.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
