Minneapolis police are warning homeowners about workers promising to repair driveways at rock-bottom prices.
"It was reported in one case that the 'contractor' approached them with an offer to repair the driveway for $60," the Third Precinct crime prevention specialist wrote in an e-mail. "According to the complaint, they failed to complete the job and then demanded $2,800 from the homeowner. They made threats to put a lien on the house and asked for the owner's bank account number."
If you are approached by someone offering to repair or replace a driveway, the department said to ask for the name of the company and get the license plate number from the vehicle. If the worker refuses to leave your property or continues to harass you, call 911.
