A driver lost control of his pickup truck on a snow-packed road southwest of the metro and fatally crashed into a tree, authorities said Sunday.

The victim from Saturday's wreck in Elysian Township was identified as Kenneth W. McMahon, 64, who lived near Cleveland, Minn., the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office reported.

That particular stretch of County Road 12 was described by authorities as covered with packed ice and snow.
