A driver ran a stop sign and was killed in a collision involving his commercial vehicle and a Schwan's food delivery van in western Wisconsin, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at County Hwy. N and 310th Street in Cady, just south of Interstate 94, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.

Timothy H. Mittlestadt, 57, of nearby Knapp, died at the scene. Mittlestadt was not wearing his seat belt, the Sheriff's Office said.

The driver for Minnesota-based Schwan's, Richard C. Fisher, of North Hudson, Wis., was taken to a hospital in River Falls with noncritical injuries. Fisher, 52, had his seat belt on.

Mittlestadt was driving a plumbing company's van north on 310th when he went through the stop sign at County Hwy. N, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Fisher's eastbound delivery van struck Mittlestadt's vehicle, which was sent into a telephone equipment box and a utility pole.
