A 26-year-old driver police suspected was impaired led authorities on an early morning chase Saturday throughout the metro area.

About 3 a.m., a Hennepin County deputy attempted to pull over the driver in Maple Grove on Hemlock Lane near Interstate 94. According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect slowed the vehicle but refused to stop.

For about 30 minutes, authorities from seven agencies — Hennepin County, Maple Grove police, State Patrol, Minneapolis police, St. Paul police, Crystal police and Robbinsdale police — pursued the driver from Maple Grove to St. Paul before he led them to the north metro.

The chase ended in Crystal about 3:30 a.m. when the suspect's vehicle crashed at 36th Avenue and County Road 81 following a "pit maneuver," which involves ramming the car to a halt.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for evaluation. No charges have yet been filed.
