Driver killed in Isanti County collision with truck

August 16, 2014 at 12:25AM

A driver was killed Friday in Isanti County after his car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The name of the person killed wasn't being released until Saturday, the patrol said.

Troopers said the car was southbound on Hwy. 47, a two-lane route, when it swerved into the northbound lane and collided with the truck at the intersection with Hwy. 95 in Pine Brook, a tiny community between Cambridge and Princeton.

The truck driver — Ryan Hoffman, 32, of Avon — was not injured. He was driving a 12-ton 2006 International 4000 Convcab.

The driver who died was behind the wheel of a compact car — a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am.
