Driver cuts in path of car near Faribault and is killed

A driver cut into the path of another car and died in a collision south of the Twin Cities, authorities said.

The crash occurred midafternoon Friday at Hwy. 60 and Jacobs Avenue about 8 miles east of Faribault, according to the State Patrol.

Killed was Scott Kalina, 53, of Kenyon, Minn. Kalina was southbound on Jacobs Avenue, crossed Hwy. 60 and collided with an eastbound car driven by a 22-year-old Kenyon man, the patrol said. Kalina was dead at the scene.

The surviving driver and a 50-year-old female passenger were hospitalized with noncritical injuries.
