The combination of stubborn cold air and episodes of rain will create drearyweather for the Carolinas through Monday, just days after summerlike warmthprevailed.Instead of soaring into the 70s and 80s which was the case last Monday intoWednesday, temperatures across the Carolinas will be held to the 40s and 50sthis Sunday and Monday.
Highs in the upper 60s are more common this time of year in Winston-Salem,Raleigh and Charlotte. Temperatures in late March typically rise into the lower70s in Columbia.
Southern South Carolina, including Beaufort, will be exempt from theunseasonable chill on Sunday, but not Monday. The arrival of the cooler airwill come after severe thunderstorms ignite Sunday afternoon.
The violent thunderstorms over southern South Carolina, as well as southernGeorgia and neighboring parts of Florida, will rumble as some rain and drizzlecontinues to put a damper on weekend plans elsewhere across the Carolinas.
Sunday's rain and drizzle will leave the Carolinas in the evening, but willquickly be followed by another round of wet weather late Sunday night intoMonday.
An end to the dreary spell will finally come on Tuesday when some sunshine andmilder temperatures return.
