“No such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing choices.”
I get to wear my Big Boy Coat today. Cool. Everyone has their own winter clothing learning curve, but I’ve found that if my toes and ears are warm, it’s not so bad.
And yes, there is such a thing as bad weather, unless you enjoy skiing down the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago — a foot of lake-effect snow is possible by this afternoon in the Windy City.
Predicting exactly where narrow lake-effect snow bands will set up is a “dirty science.” Models help (a little), but it’s an exercise in futility. Ask anyone who lives in the Twin Ports about the joys of lake effect — 1 to 15 inches, give or take.
According to Dr. Mark Seeley’s Minnesota WeatherTalk newsletter, Minnesota has recorded five consecutive warmer-than-normal Novembers. That trend may continue this year with 40s and 50s into Thanksgiving. A full latitude storm may squirt gulf moisture into Minnesota with a cold rain this weekend. A good soaking before the ground freezes up would be nice to recharge soil moisture.
Hey, keep those ears toasty!
