A mix of snow, ice and rain on Tuesday?

I’m not afraid of winter. Cold DEFINES Minnesotans. We are WEATHER WARRIORS! Wait, let me just turn down my heated seats. I don’t want my butt to catch on fire.

I wonder what the settlers at Fort Snelling in the 1830s would think. Have we become soft? But keeping Mother Nature out has driven innovation and helps people live and prosper. Would there even be a Sun Belt without air conditioning? Fiberglass insulation, heat pumps, Gore-Tex and multi-pane windows. Asphalt shingles kept the rain out in the early 1900s. Refrigeration has made it possible to keep food and medicine at a safe temperature. The list is endless. No idea how our ancestors got through a Minnesota winter. Respect.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and I don’t see any huge weather obstacles. The sun will be out Sunday with less wind. A little rain late Monday may mix with snow and ice Tuesday, with most of the big storms sailing just south of Minnesota the next one to two weeks.

A record 72 degrees on Friday? By late November we expect highs in the 20s.
